COVID-19 Closure Notice

COVID-19 Updates:

EMMETT PUBLIC LIBRARY’S COVID-19 RESPONSE!

UPDATED: March 16, 2020, at 7:00 pm

Emmett Public Library is closed to the public beginning Tuesday, March 17th through April 30th.

The Library’s Board of Trustees made the decision during an emergency special meeting on Monday, March 16. Earlier in the month, Gov. Brad Little declared a state of emergency in Idaho due to the novel coronavirus, and Idaho public health experts issued new guidelines for public gatherings. Since then, Idaho has seen confirmed cases of COVID-19.

The Emmett Public Library has continued to monitor public health updates and actions taken by other libraries across the country to limit the spread of COVID-19. The Board considered the highly contagious nature of the novel coronavirus, the impracticality of enforcing social distancing in a busy library environment, the safety of staff and volunteers, and the critical importance of protecting the most vulnerable members of the community.

The closures apply to all Emmett Public Library programs, events, and library outreach. The library will not be accepting donated items during this time.

FAQs What about items I need to check in? We have auto renewal on most library materials; all fines accrued during this time will be waved. We encourage you to return materials as you are finished with them.

What about items I have on hold? Your holds will be waiting for pick up when library reopens. Please contact the library by phone 11-3, M-F or remotely via library@cityofemmett.org

What if I can’t remember my library card number or have a specific question about my account? Please email us library@cityofemmett.org.

What happens before April 30? The Emmett Public Library Board will meet during the closure to continually assess the situation and determine next steps. We will post ongoing updates here and on our social media channels.
