Summer Reading-Building a Better World

Gem County families are avoiding the "Summer Slide", turning it into the "Summer Leap". With over 315 kids registered this year in our program, we hope to see kids excelling over the summer and starting school reading better than when they finished in May. The library is also giving out books at the Rec. District and in the park on Thursdays. Let's keep our kids reading!

The benefits of summer reading programming for children:

  • Children are motivated to read.

  • Children develop positive attitudes about reading, books, and the library.

  • Children maintain their reading skills during summer vacation.

  • Children have access to experiences that further their sense of discovery.

  • Children have access to experiences through which they can learn to work cooperatively.
